Orange-Strawberry Smoothie

 

Ingredients:

6          tablespoons water

2         tablespoon white chia seeds

1         cup pineapple chunks

½        cup pineapple juice

2          navel oranges, peeled

1          banana

2          cups frozen strawberries

 Yield:  4-5, 8-ounce servings.

Directions:

1.     Soak seeds in 6 tablespons of water for 5-10 minutes.

2.     Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender in the order they are listed above. 

Strawberries contains lots of vitamin C and fiber, flavonoids, polyphenols and micronutrients like magnesium, potassium and calcium.

Green Tropical Smoothie

 

Ingredients:

6         tablespoons water

2         white chia seeds

½        cup light coconut milk

1         ripe bananas

2          tablespoons lime juice

2          tablespoons lemon juice

2          navel oranges, peeled

1          cup frozen mangoes

1          cup frozen pineapple

1          cup frozen spinach

Optional:

1          tablespoon agave nectar or white sugar to taste

 Yield:  4-5, 8-ounce servings.

Directions:

1.    Soak seeds in 6 tablespoons for 5-10 minutes.

2.     Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender in the order in which they are listed above. Blend for 45-60 seconds or until smooth.

Wow!  This smoothie has it all!  The fiber, potassium, vitamin and mineral content of this smoothie is through the roof. Spinach and hemp seeds, in particular, provide the nutrients most lacking in our diets, which include – iron, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin C, folate, iodine, potassium, vitamin K, magnesium and fiber.
